First day in Salkantay Trek

The first day, we will make the transfer from Cusco to the town of Mollepata, leaving very early, around 4 am. This trip lasts around 2: 30h to 3h. In this town breakfast will be served. At this point you can also buy water, coca leaves, cookies and sweets, raincoats and canes, which are very necessary for the beginning of the trail. From Mollepata Square to the beginning of the trail, the travel time is 01:00 h. Along this route we can enjoy different varieties of plants, beautiful landscapes and a diversity of animals such as Vizcacha, Bamby, Tigrilho and others. We will arrive at Challacancha, where our first path begins. Our guide will start with a presentation of the whole group, giving some advice and then we will start walking. We will walk approximately 6:00 hrs until we stop for lunch and rest for 02:00 hrs. Then we will continue to the famous Humantay lake, one of the most beautiful landscapes on the road. Walking harder, we will reach the resting point and tea time. In the evening we will have dinner accompanied by the famous coca leaf tea, which helps acclimatization. Then we can rest in tents that will be delivered to us individually, along with a sliding bag to keep us warm, as the temperature drops at night, reaching 2 to 3 degrees.

Second day in Salkantay Trek

This will be the most difficult day of the whole hike, reaching the highest point: the Salkantay mountain, which is more than 4,630 meters above sea level. Therefore, the hike begins at 7 am and we will arrive at the destination approximately 3 hours later. We can also observe the famous Salkantay lagoon, 40 minutes from the Salkantay viewpoint, and then we will begin to descend to our second camp located in the town of Rayanniyoc, where we will have lunch at 2:00 p.m. and rest. We will walk another 5 hours until we reach the camp where we will spend the night. At 7:00 p.m. a small meal will be served, ending the day's activities.

Third day in Salkantay Trek

We will start the day walking in the middle of the jungle at approximately 6:00 a.m. at 7:00 a.m. until you reach the town of Santa Teresa. On this day we will see small formations of thermal water pools and also many types of orchids, considered the most beautiful in the world. We will walk two more sections, the first to reach the village for lunch and the second, to reach the camp where we will spend the night.

Fourth day in Salkantay Trek

Our first objective of this day is to make the way to the famous Hydroelectric, in approximately 6 hours of walking, where we will have lunch. Then, the second objective is to reach the town of Aguas Calientes, the gateway to the citadel of Machu Picchu. The walk to the hotel in the village, where they will spend the night, lasts approximately 3 hours. We suggest you get enough rest, but also be sure to stroll through Aguas Calientes to discover the restaurants and shops.

Fifth day in Salkantay Trek

This will be the day to fulfill your dream of visiting Machu Picchu! Our team will help you board the bus to the citadel. When the tour begins, our guide will transmit all the information, curiosities and stories of this mystical place and the entire Inca culture. You will have free time to enjoy in silence one of the 7 wonders of the modern world. Then, we will return to Aguas Calientes and board the train back to Cusco. In this way we finish one of the beautiful trails in South America, an excellent option to know and visit the different regions of Cusco and have the unforgettable experience of arriving in Machu Picchu by path.
