What to Pack for Salkantay Trek?

Here you have a list for things you must pack for a Salkantay Trek:



  • Mountain shoes or slippers with grip 
  • Sweater and jacket for the days in the snowy 
  • Hat 
  • Insect repellent 
  • Sunscreen with UV A personal cover for the rain 
  • Long-sleeved polo shirts 
  • Shorts and long pants
  • Lip balm 
  • Toilet paper 
  • Snack bar 
  • Lantern 
  • Glasses, plastic bags, sleeping bag 
  • Personal and medical items
  • One light backpack per person
  • Photo or video camera and its extra charger
  • Some extra money in small denomination (preferable in soles)
  • Water Bottle, and water purifying tablets.

Also, remember that for a Salkantay Trek you need to be in good physical shape, since the route is hardous, and the altitude makes the hike more difficult.
